Welcome to Phy. Ed.!
Attention Parents: I am still looking for ping pong tables. I have had three new tables and one used table donated to this point. If you know of anyone looking to get rid of a table, please let me know. The tables must be the fold up kind and on wheels. The tables do not need to be perfect, just useable.
In fourth grade we begin the year with a cooperative games unit that focuses on working together to achieve goals.
To begin the year in grade 5 we will be working on a unit using discs/frisbees. Proper throwing and catching techniques will be used and games and activities will be played focusing on improving those techniques.
Hut, hut, hut!!! Football is the name of the game for our beginning unit of the year. Skills such as throwing, catching, pass route running, punting, and kicking will be practiced. Games will be played as we move through the unit where students can put their skills to the test.
Grade 7 starts the year with a unit in soccer. Passing, kicking, ball control, and goalkeeping will be explored.
Ultimate Frisbee is a game that is increasing in popularity today. In grade 8 we will start the year working on the necessary skills to play this fast paced and exciting game.
Uniform requirements for gym class:
Students in grades 4-5 DO NOT change for gym. All students do need a pair of tennis shoes that have either laces or velcro fasteners. No slip on shoes are allowed as these are not safe for what we do in class.
Students in grades 6-8 change for gym class. Gym style shorts (No buttons or zippers) that are an appropriate length are required, as well as a t-shirt. T-shirts must have sleeves and a crew neck. Writing is ok on shirts or shorts but must be appropriate. Socks and shoes are also part of the uniform. Again, shoes must have ties or velcro but no slip on shoes please. Sweatpants may be worn instead of shorts but NO LEGGINGS OR YOGA PANTS!
